This range of kits are intended for the 10’6″ wheelbase Presflos that were built from 1955 to 1964 for BR, Tunnel Cement and APCM. There were a number of variations in the prototype that have been covered and has led to the range outlined below. Essentially, there were two styles of brakegear and two arrangements of discharge pipe giving rise to three underframe kits. Beyond that, there were differences in buffers, couplings, ladders and grab handles that the committed modeller can get their teeth into, details of which are covered in the instructions and elsewhere on this website.
The underframes are primarily etched but with 3D prints for the two clasp brakegear arrangements to make life easier. They also include cast vacuum cylinder(s) and 3D printed springs/axleboxes, buffer housings and discharge pipes. Etches are included for ladders (2 types), walkways and several types of valve wheel. Either the venerable Airfix/Dapol kit can provide the body or the Bachmann RTR model. Both are catered for within the underframe kit.
In addition to the underframes, there is a range of detailing kits. There are three body upgrade packs for the Airfix/Dapol model to suit the three underframe kits. These are all 3D printed parts and contain new manholes, side and end stanchions and hopper bottoms. There are also additional parts for the small batch of ferry fitted Presflos used for Fullers Earth traffic to Europe and replacement rectangular ‘trader’s boards’ for the side of the hopper. These latter two items are not yet available but artwork exists for them and I am happy to get tooling done for a production sheet if there is interest in them.

Be aware that these are complex kits that require experience, patience and persistence to complete. They are not quick and contain many small details. If you are put off by lots of small details or things like 3D printed brakegear then they are probably best lest alone. Also, if you have never built a Rumney Models kit then I would suggest starting with something simpler…
