BR Clasp Brake Gunpowder Van Kit

A full kit for the final version of the steam era Gunpowder van built to diagram 1/261 (PC.57 – £39). 40 of these wagons were built by Swindon between 1958 and 1960 under two lots and featured a 10’ wheelbase and BR clasp vacuum brakegear. They were a curious mix of old and new.

This kit follows on from the LMS/LNER/BR Morton/Independent brake Gunpowder vans that were released in 2023. They have been updated for the different wheelbase and brakegear and include numerous small detail differences to accurately model the lot 3099 and 3237 vans. The body, solebars, Oleo buffer housings, springs/axleboxes and brake shoes are 3D printed resin with a sprung brass ‘under frame’, roof (for a prototypically thin look) and detailing parts along with a cast whitemetal vacuum cylinder. The kits have been packed with BR 2 part axleboxes (my code FA) as I believe these are what was fitted with new. If you require different axleboxes then please say when ordering.

Midland 6’0” Leading Loco Bogie

Brought to you courtesy of Pete Tarver, there is another addition to the Rumney Models range of sprung LMS/MR loco bogies. This time it is a kit for the Midland 6’0” leading bogie (X.29E – £7) as fitted to the MR 2P 4-4-0s, etc. The kit follows on from the 6’6” Compound bogie released last year and features sprung beams as per the prototype. The bogie is P4 only. It comes with spring wire but will need High Level Minibloxs to complete.

To complement the new bogie, 3D printed loco bogie brakes (X.29EBR – £2) are also available for those modelling the Midland era. Bogie brakes were fitted from new but were later removed.

LNER 42T Diamond Framed Freight Bogies

A sprung bogie kit for the LNER 42T diamond framed freight bogies. These were fitted to Quint Ds/Bogie Bolster Ds and Boplates. There are two versions of the kit, they are the same aside from the axleboxes. Most bogies were fitted with LNER cast axleboxes, but BR welded boxes could be found on BR built bogie bolster Ds to diagram 1/472. The welded axleboxes looked very much like those fitted to 4 wheeled wagons with two horizontally aligned lugs on a plate cover.

They follow on from the LNER 50T bogies (PG.11) and feature cosmetic 3D prints over an etched sideframe and sprung bolster.

GWR Loco Outside Cranks

These are etched on 0.45mm brass and are designed to be used double thickness. There are three types which are identical save the axle holes which are etched to suit different axle diameters. Each fret provides sufficient parts for 4 cranks/2 axles.

• X.37A – 1/8” Axle – £2
• X.37B – 3mm Axle – £2
• X.37C – 2.5mm Axle – £2

Postage Rates

I am very aware of the growing cost of postage and try to keep what I charge as low as possible. I can’t be the only one who deletes the order when confronted by a £6.50 charge for a single RTR wagon. I have therefore been looking at postage rates again in particular with regards to the increasing costs and the growing difference between letter and large letter, and also in light of the Royal Mail now collecting from home which means I can dispatch orders faster as I’m not waiting for a trip to the post office.

This means that small orders with goods value of no more than £30 will vary depending on what size envelope or box they can fit in. I will advise when I receive your order via email whether the letter or large letter rate listed below applies. It will mostly be small quantities of etches only that can be sent out by letter. Any order containing castings or 3D prints will be sent by large letter.

The following rates will now apply:

• UK orders with a goods total of no more than £30 (letter) – £1.50 (Small quantities of etches only)
• UK orders with a goods total of no more than £30 (large letter) – £2.15
• UK orders with a total goods value of over £30 – £3.30
• Overseas postage is at cost. Rates will be provided when ordering.

Postage prices are per order and are based on the total goods value so that they are insured for the cost of replacement. Smaller orders to the UK will be sent 2nd class, larger orders will be sent Tracked 48. The latter will require an email address.

Scalefour Crewe 2025

Rumney Models will be at Scalefour Crewe this weekend (7/8^th June). It looks like being another great show. I hope to see some of you there.
