Slightly later than hoped due mainly to instruction writing and prep for Scaleforum, another round of new releases from Rumney Models.
Items are 4mm scale and are suitable for OO, EM and P4 except where stated.
Presflo Underframes
The end of a mammoth task. Underframes and detailing for the 10’6” wheelbase Presflos built for BR, Tunnel Cement and APCM. Little in the way of steam era stock could beat a vacuum braked hopper for complexity and these have followed the prototype. Two types of brakegear are covered as are the two discharge pipe arrangements, giving 3 basic options.
Underframe kits are EM/P4 only and include 3D printed brakegear, discharge pipes, springs and axleboxes and buffer housings. They also include etched walkways and ladders. They are suitable for use with either the Airfix/Dapol kit or the Bachmann RTR model.

In addition to the underframes there are 3D printed body upgrade parts for the Airfix/Dapol body. These consist of new end and side stanchions along with manholes and hopper bottoms.
There are also etched parts for the 10 ferry fitted Presflos and the rectangular ‘trader’s boards’ that were fitted to the side of the private owner Presflos. Solebars without holes for side stanchion brackets are available by request for those wishing to model a Shildon built Presflo soon after building.

- PB.81B – £33 BR Presflo – Late brakegear
- PB.81C – £2 BR Ferry Presflo – Additional Parts (For use with PB.81B)

- PB.82-Dap – £4.50 Airfix/Dapol body upgrade pack – PO Late brakegear

Requires experience of Rumney Models kits and a good dose of perseverance to complete.
Background on the prototype can be found on the Rumney Models Project page, as can a page on detailing the Airfix/Dapol model. Further information can be found here and in the instructions.

Hornby SR 700 Class Loco and Chassis Kits
A modern sprung chassis for the Hornby 700 class developed with Neil Berrington. EM/P4 only. The loco chassis (X.35 – £55) is EM/P4 only and includes etched static inside motion and a 14’ wheelbase tender subframe. Full brakegear is provided for both. The 14’ wb tender subframe is also available separately (X.35A – £13). Also available is a one piece 3D printed version of the inside motion for the loco chassis (PX.35-IM – £8). This will have some application beyond the 700 class. Further details can be found here.

3D Printed Pressed Steel 16T Mineral Side Doors
Replacement pressed steel doors for the Cambrian LMS 16T mineral developed with Mark Saunders. These doors are a different type to the LMS one included with the kit. Each pack contains 2 doors (PB.119 – £3.50).

3D Printed GWR Springs and Axleboxes
A handful of new 3D printed GWR axleboxes and springs have been added to the range:
- PFGW-O13MV – Milk Van (O.13)
- PFGW-O41 – Tube (O.41)
- PFGW.N16S – Calf Van (N16)
All are £4 for a set of four. The O.41 type will need backing plates (B.112) for the reinforced axlebox guides.

GWR Gas Tanks and Fittings
Developed with Martin Needham, 3D printed GWR gas tanks and fittings. Each pack contains two tanks, both right and left handed valves which are attached to brackets that locate behind the solebar and pressure gauges. There are two sizes of tank, 8’3” x 1’4” (PX.50A – £5) and 7’0” x 1’6” (PX.50B – £5).

16T Welded Mineral Bodies
A special kit developed in conjunction with Chris Leach, etched 16T welded mineral bodies to complement the Rumney Models underframes. There are two kits, the first for wagons with top side doors or ‘London trader’s flaps’ (SC.31 – £32), the second for early wagons without (SC.31A – £32). Both kits feature welded side and end doors. I may have the odd one in stock, but these are generally available to order only.

Other Business
The more observant will notice that there have been some price rises. This is mainly down to the cost of etches which have around risen 16% since the last round of price increases 4 year ago. Castings and, more recently, printer resin have also shown increases in cost but sale prices for these items remain the same. There is also the cost of energy to consider. This year we have paid more for our latest heating oil delivery than we did for twice the amount last year. I can’t help but wonder about a system where some idiot in a building site 3000 miles away can have such an effect on the lives of people in other parts of the world, in all sorts of ways. The system would seem to be broken…
Happy modelling,
Justin
